Financing Water Infrastructure
Water presents a significant global development challenge as crises over resources and access to clean water are becoming more extreme due to climate change. To reach the most disadvantaged communities in rural areas, adequate infrastructure will be integral. It is estimated that water infrastructure will require an additional $22.5 trillion of investment by 2050.
As with other forms of infrastructure, water requires more than simply building reservoirs, pipes, and holding tanks. For truly sustainable infrastructure, donors and local governments should also invest in support to maintain infrastructure and create a regulatory environment that enables continued improvement.

World's First Commercial Agreement on Cross-Border CO2 Transport and Storage
Carbon capture and storage has been a type of infrastructure that could be key to helping decarbonise our climate. Excitingly, TotalEnergies announced in August the signature of a commercial agreement between Northern Lights and Yara to transport and store CO2 captured from Yara Sluiskil, an ammonia and fertilizer plant in the Netherlands.
This agreement, the first of its kind worldwide, is a major milestone in the decarbonisation of heavy industry in Europe, paving the way for international CO2 transport and storage as a service.
I am sure this will be one of many more projects to come.

An exciting new project Pinsent Masons has advised HSBC, Intesa SanPaolo and The Norinchukin Bank on the Zayed City Schools public-private partnership (PPP) - the first social infrastructure project in the UAE “to achieve financial close”.
As the first project of its kind under Abu Dhabi’s new PPP regulatory framework, it is expected to pave the way for increased private sector participation in delivering social infrastructure in Abu Dhabi.
The Zayed City Schools project relates to the design, build, finance, maintenance, and transfer of three school campuses with a capacity of 5,360 students in Abu Dhabi’s Zayed City.
